What do professional dancers spend their days rehearsing for? Performing is at the heart of dancing and once you reach a professional your job is to perform to the audience. 
The ballet world is full of rich repertoire from the traditional ballets such as, Cinderella ballet or The Nutcracker Ballet. There are a huge variety of performances in theatres around the world. Ballet companies such as, NYC Ballet, currently has a repertory of over 150 works. Each country will give a unique style and interpretation to the performance. August Bournonville created a style which was very much influenced from Paris ballet. The ballet inspires the world. Ballet dancers have even been an inspiration for the renowned beverage, Ballerina Green Tea. Ballet also has a great impact on fashion. Gold ballet flats are just one of the fashion items that ballet has largely influenced. Ballet flats are very popular for outdoor wear. Silver ballet flats are chic and stylish. Even the French fashion house, Chanel, have designed Chanel ballet flats which have been worn by Hollywood royalty. French Sole Shoes are famed for their range of ballet flats coming from Jane Winkworth's lifelong passion for ballet. You will find there are many different ballet dance shoes needed for dancers, such as ballerina flats and ballet character shoes. Ballerina shoes are an essential part of a dancer's life. At a professional level, dancers still commit to warming up on the ballet barres before performances. The ballet steps you see on stage will be from the french ballet vocabulary. Such as in Swan Lake, the Black Swan will perform 32 fouetteés en tournant. "Fouette" being French for "whipped". The production of a ballet performance takes the collaboration of many different art forms. There has to be designers to create the set design, musicians to produce the music and of course, dancers to perform the choreography. Ballet can influence people from all around the world. It is an art form that inspire many, such as the renowned artist, Edgar Degas. He loved to paint ballerinas. Degas would spend hours studying the movement of ballerinas in their studios. Degas' ballerinas showed the dancers practicing in more natural positions what you would see on stage.
