Ballet isn't always about the dancing, it can be about the story. Some people say that it is the story that creates the magic in a performance.

The fact that a story can be told through every performance, is perhaps that is what makes ballet so exciting for both the dancers and the audience.

The dancers reveal the story through different characters. Every story is communicated by actions and mimes.

There is a whole other language in the ballet world. It is full of hand gestures and each gesture means a certain word. That is how the stories are managed to be carried out.

La fille mal gardee When watching a ballet with a story you have to give the stage your fullest attention.

It is often hard to understand the story when watching a performance because there are no words spoken.

Yet even though no words are spoken, that is what makes ballet so captivating.

To make the story credible it is the dancers who have to grasp the story.

The story will only come out to be special if the dancers put their whole 100% into being the character.

For dancers to convey a story they have to turn into the character. However it is so much more than just wearing the costume and dancing the choreography.

Ballet dancers have to prepare the role in their head. They must be able to interpret their character.

Ballet dancers have to not only have to focus on the dancing but on what they are trying to portray through their character.

When learning a role dancers find a way to learn how to create emotion.

Ballet dancers need to be connected within the music. They are an inspiration for themselves and for their audience.

Ballets are combined with three separate things- the dancing, the music and the story. These three things join to produce a wonderful and engaging performance.
