Career Development Plan - Vocational schools in California

Hi,
I have been on a scholarship class for about 3 years now. I have often been told that I am good at ballet and I absolutely love it! I would like to be a professional ballet dancer so I am thinking about vocational schools. Please could you tell me if there are any vocational ballet schools in California. I live in Los Angeles but would be willing to travel somewhere in CA to go.

Thank you,
PJ

Hello Pj,

Thank you very much for your submission, it is super to hear from you!

This is great you are starting to Take Action and realize your career development plan.

There are schools in California which offer training for young, striving ballet dancers. It is most beneficial to train at a ballet school that has an association with a professional ballet company. This will give you an aspiring environment and a clearer goal.

When it comes to considering vocational ballet schools, it is beneficial to audition for several schools within a wide region to give you plenty of choices. It is great that you are willing to travel as I have known many dancers who have had to travel extensively to get the best training.

You sound very aware of your career dreams which is very beneficial, keep up the good work!

Keep in touch!

All the best,

Odette

Career Development Plan - Vocational Ballet Schools in California?

Hi,
I have been told that my daughter is very good at ballet and her ballet teacher has suggested full-time training. We live in England but there are no vocational schools near us and it would not be possible for my daughter to board as she would become to homesick. My sister lives in California and we are thinking about moving out there soon. Do you know if there are any vocational ballet schools in California?

Hello Julia,

Thank you for contacting me, I am always happy to help.

Full-time training is an rigorous commitment, but certainly worth it for the intense training that is necessary to become a professional dancer.

England is home for some of the most prominent places for young dancers to train, such as the Royal Ballet School and Elmhurst School for Dance. However, I do understand your worry for your daughter's homesickness. I got terribly homesick when I went away to a vocational ballet, but now I am so thankful for the opportunities and discipline it gave me.

There are schools in California which offer training for young, striving ballet dancers. Here are some notable names:

California Ballet School

Ballet San Jose School

San Francisco Ballet School

It is advantageous to train at a ballet school that has an association with a professional ballet company. This gives students a aspiring environment and a clearer goal.

Do not hesitate to ask further queries, as I completely understand the often tough decisions that have to be made for young ballet dancers.

All the best,

Odette
