Team Talk Odette! #147 - Star Success for Ballet
February 17, 2014

I remember very clearly when one of the top ballerinas of my first ever ballet company came to talk to me.

She wanted to pass on her advice and told me a story of when a director once told her being a professional is 'cheating', which she didn't understand.

Soon, she realised and wished she had become more 'free' earlier in her career: to let go, take risks and make mistakes to learn from it.

She told me, if I dance from my heart it will be there, but I have to just dance.

Now, I want you to remind you of the key skills, so you can learn the secrets of a professional and become a star in ballet -

Remember, you have to think about technique, but not so much that it takes over your ability to perform and be a great dancer.

Best wishes,

P.S - The quote of the day is: "Dance every performance as if it were your last."
