Today I want to encourage the importance of the ballet bar. The bar is something most young dancers underestimate, yet the thing that will always remain with every ballerina.
If you were anything like me when I was a student, I often found the bar exercises tedious and grueling - I was dying to get into the center and dance!
But as my training went on, I realized how important the bar was. Each exercise is linked to the movements further on in the class. For example, the fast action of frappes is linked to your batterie and petit allegro.
So the harder you work at the bare, the better you will feel in the center. And the more you push yourself at the bar, the more strength you will gain.

Next time you go to ballet class, think carefully about how each exercises are linked to each other. With great knowledge and understanding, you can improve wonders in your dancing!
All the best,
Odette
