Ballet Pointe Shoes - First Pointe class
I found out a few months ago ( from my teacher) that I'm ready to start pointe this summer! I'm soooo excited!
Anyway, I was just wondering what we will in our first class, Like what we will do at the barre, and if we will even get to the center.
Oh and I'm 12:)

Thank you for your query, it is great to hear your exciting news about ballet pointe shoes!
Remember, just like I did before I went en pointe, ballet students MUST take responsibility for their own strengthening prior to beginning pointe work.
Australian dancer, Lisa Howell has made a video which explains how pre-point strengthening works.
Don't leave it to your teacher!
You can watch this pre-pointe video

It is great that you are wondering about your first ballet pointe class, as it valuable to have as much knowledge as possible on ballet pointe shoes. It's not only a case of being physically ready to begin pointe work, but also being mentally prepared.
I expect your first class will be very steady and simple. You may begin with rises at barre, then move onto some echappes and releves. I doubt you will do much in the center, as the emphasis on the few first classes should be on gaining your confidence on pointe and strengthening the ankles.
To get more guidance on what the beginning stages will be like, take a look at the video above. Australian dancer, Lisa Howell has made a video which explains how pre-point strengthening works.
Good luck and enjoy!
All the best,
