Career Development Plan - Vocational Ballet Schools

Today I received an offer from a full time vocational dance school which is incredible and obviously I'm very happy!
However, I have been offered a place on the dancers course rather than the classical stream which is what I've always wanted to do... I'm not really sure what to make of it.
I'm only auditioning for ballet schools but after that offer I'm firstly wondering if I'll even get in to any of them anyway and secondly should I be auditioning for normal dance schools as well?
The news has just thrown me and I have no idea what to do, is there any advice or guidance you could give me?

Thankyou xxx

Hello,
Thank you for contacting me, it is great to hear from you. WOW that is amazing news! Congratulations. You have just achieved what so many young dancers wish to have - a chance, an opportunity and a possibility of full time training in dance.

I can remember entirely my own process of auditioning around dance schools, so I can of course give you some of my own advice from experience.

Firstly, I think you have to be patient with yourself and wait until you have all the options ready to choose from. You never know what more offers you could get from other dance schools, so it is best to see what happens until you weigh out the possibilites.

I know you said it is a dance course, rather than a classical course, but is there still a chance for you to study ballet? It can be a great benefit to go somewhere that studies more than one style of dance to give you more background and versatility as a dancer.

I also think it is important to discuss any decisions with your family. They are the people who will always be there to support you, so it is good to hear their say and talk to them about how you feel.

You must please keep in touch and let me know how you get on. If you have any further thoughts than don't hesitate to ask, I am always happy to help.

Best wishes,
Odette
