Ballet Dancers - Mikhail Baryshnikov

Hello Madison,

Thank you for your ballet dancers submission, it is a pleasure to hear from you.

I particularly like your quote from Baryshnikov, "If you don't sweat after doing plies, then you are working hard at all.". I love to hear quotes from great artists and dancers, as it is very inspiring.

Another quote which reminds me of this one from Baryshnikov is by the renowned choreographer George Balanchine -

"Do. Now is the time. Relax is for the grave, dear."

"What are you saving it for?"

Here is some more information on the legendary dancer, Mikhail Baryshnikov -

Mikhail Baryshnikov was born in 1948 in Riga, Latvia. Together with Nijinsky and Nureyev, he is often noted as one of the greatest ballet dancers of the 20th century.

Baryshnikov started in the Kirov ballet and later joined the New York City Ballet as a principal dancer to learn George Balanchine's style of movement. He then moved to New York to dance with the American Ballet Theatre, where in time he became artistic director.

In addition to his career in dance, Baryshnikov has pursued acting, starring in five films. He was also featured in the last season of Sex and the City, playing a Russian artist.

Thank you Madison.

Best Wishes,

Odette

Darcey Bussel - Influential Ugly Duckling?:- Hi Odette, I love the fact Darcey Bussel never wanted to be a ballet dancer, but her mum said she had "knock knees" and she was clumsy so she sent her to ballet, and she became one of my most influential ballet dancers of all time!

Hi Little-miss-daisy

Lovely contribution, thanks for your opinion. You must be from England ... am I right? I tend to agree with you, Darcy Bussell is certainly one of the most influential dancers of recent times - and all from a very unpromising start. She was also very tall to be a top dancer but she made it. SO there's hope for everyone!

If you read my 7 Secrets...., you can be sure Darcy followed all of those seven rules to get to the top. Without the mental strength she would have faltered for sure.

Darcey Bussel - Influential Ugly Duckling?

Hello-
I was a bit shocked by the relation of 5 foot 9 being too tall to make it to the top. Are you referring to the world companies like the Bolshoi and Royal Ballet? If it is general reference, I might like clarification. Ariana Lallone, a Pacific Northwest Ballet principal, is 5 foot 11!
Thanks,
Curious

Famous Ballet Dancer - Veerle Casteleyn

Hello. I am a big fan of modern and ballet dancing. I first saw Veerle in Andrew Lloyd Webbers production of Cats. (the video). As with many others, I fell in love with that little angel.

However, as much as I try, I cannot find any current information on her. All I'm asking for is the email address of whomever is representing her now so that I may write to her through them. If you could help me out in this, I would be forever grateful.

Thank you.

James
