Ballet Dancers - Weight and Body

hi im 4 foot 11 and im 90 lbs do i need to loose weight to be a professional ballerina? Im aware dance requires to be thin, how much is too thin is there a limit?

Hi Anna,
Thanks for your message it's great to hear from you. I hope you're enjoying reading my website. Professional ballerinas vary a lot in their weight and sizes, although they all look very slim and slender they are still extremely strong to keep up with the huge demands of a ballet career. I would say, there is a limit to being too thin and it can affect your dancing if you loose too much weight from your natural structure. Some dancers are naturally very petite, others are more muscular. Whichever your body type is, you must embrace that and work your hardest in class to produce the best from your facility.
