Ballet Pointe Shoes - Elastic

Does criss-crossing the elastic on your pointe shoes support your arch better?

Hello Carolyn,

Thank you for you ballet pointe shoes query, it is great to hear from you.

Yes, the criss-cross elastics provides extra support for your arch. A pointe shoe maker once told me it is better to sew elastics in a criss-cross, as oppose to just one loop, because otherwise it can cut the circulation off. I always prefer sewing in a criss-cross as I feel it gives me more support and makes my foot feel more snug in my shoe.

All the best,

Odette
