Ballet Dance
The Life of a Dancer

Ballet dance is one of the most challenging forms of dancing. It has a very disciplined technique and requires grace, flexibility and control in every movement. You need not only talent as a dancer, but a lot of hard work and dedication to succeed.

One of the most well known yet difficult parts of ballet, is the ballerina shoes. It looks light and effortless, but takes years of practice to dance on pointe like the professionals.

Pointe needs a strong ballet technique and correct placement to dance with freedom and enjoyment.

Ballet never really gets easier, but the feeling of control in your body improves over the years.

It is a hard process of discipline, sweat and routine for ballet dancers in training.

Young Ballet Dancers

From managing your ballet shoes, to performing on stage, you become very independent and responsible as a dancer. I started training seriously in ballet when I was 11, which meant no more short lessons at my local dance school, but full-time commitment at a vocational school based away from my family.

Despite the extreme level hard work, I think many dancers will say ballet becomes a part of your life. The life of every dancer will begin in the hard work of the studio on the ballet barres, practicing every step and perfecting every movement.

Dancers have to grasp the strength in their muscles to control every step and the coordination to move with speed. You need the skill to dance with not just technique, but with the music and sense of performance from your heart.

Passion To Perform

Performing, after all, is what brings such joy for dancers and what they work so hard for to achieve. There are a huge variety of performances in theatres around the world with the traditional ballets such as, Cinderella ballet or The Nutcracker Ballet.

Dancers mostly all feel nerves and adrenaline before they go on stage. This feeling doesn't often disappear, because it is the excitement and energy that gives you the most special performances.

Each dancer finds their own way to prepare for the shows. Whether it is breathe of fresh air, a quick nap, or sip of Ballerina Green Tea.

It is important for dancer's to feel relaxed and ready for the performances, whist also saving their energy to give everything on stage.

You will recognize the ballet steps you see on stage, especially the grand classical ballets which has very traditional dances and familiar movement.

Swan Lake ballet has the famous 32 fouetteés en tournant by the principal black swan. It is exciting for the audience, yet one of the hardest moments for the dancer.

Ballet Worldwide

Ballet has a huge influence on artists all around the world. Even the designer, Jane Winkworth, who is the creator of French Sole Shoes. She fell in love with the charm of ballerinas and had an early love for ballet.

Winkworth soon developed the first ever company to sell only ballet style footwear and now even gold ballet flats have become loved around the world.
